The EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant Discovery Centre is at the hub of the Britannia environmental solution. Nestled between the impressive 'sludge cake filter press' and the giant 'clarifier tank', it was opened in 2008, developed jointly by the Museum and EPCOR. The Centre invites you to learn more about the environmental issue that plagued Britannia Beach for so long, and introduces you to the simple, yet amazingly effective solution at the EPCOR Britannia Mine Water Treatment Plant. The Plant opened in 2005 to treat the mine's acid rock drainage problem and since then, has turned a very serious environmental issue completely around.
