We are celebrating International Mother Language Day by raising awareness about our translation sheets. We have translation sheets in many languages and a lot of the most interesting information and historical facts about the area are covered.

The best part is they are totally free with your admission or membership.

EXPLORATION DAYS AT THE MUSEUM

Thursday, April 19, 2012
The 100th anniversary of AME BC.

2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia (AME BC). From modest beginnings, AME BC has matured into one of the most respected mineral exploration organizations with a rich and diverse history.

Exploration Days at Britannia Mine Museum will display what is involved in mineral exploration and how important it is for mining, and ultimately our daily lives. There will be a variety of interactive activities showing what life as a mineral explorer is like and how modern techniques such as geological mapping, aeromagnetic surveys (the metal detector in the sky), GPS have led to the evolution of exploration.

During Exploration Days, students and the public will be able to explore the full life cycle of a mine – from early stage geoscience research through exploration through production and ultimately to reclamation.
