Continue ShoppingMarch 22, 2015 sees the 100th anniversary of the largest disaster to strike the Britannia Mine.
It was just past midnight on this tragic date when an avalanche of rock and ice roared down the mountain, crushing the Jane Camp. Over fifty men, women, and children lost their lives in that evening.
In memory of this tragic event, the Museum is dedicating our revamped viewing area, named ‘The Outlook’, in the memory of those lost. On your next visit, on your way to the underground stop at The Outlook to take in the views of Britannia and discover more about Jane Camp, the Slide, and what came after.
